Disclaimers and Minutiae

  • Values may not match 100% with what your tax software reports due to rounding or other small changes. The tool should be accurate within a few dollars generally.
  • Income over $10 million is not well supported.
  • We calculate SSA benefits using the Social Security Benefits Worksheet. If you fall into any of the exceptions that require you to use the publication, this may not be accurate.
  • We are awaiting IRS guidance for the new 2/37 itemized deduction adjustment in 2026. Best estimates are currently in place.
  • We are awaiting IRS guidance for the new Non-Itemizer Charitable Deduction adjustment in 2026. Best estimates are currently in place.
  • Taxable income under $100,000 is not actually calculated by tax brackets, it is done according to the IRS lookup tables, which intentionally do not match the published tax brackets. The tool follows these rules, but the results may look a little confusing. For example, in 2024, $11,600 in taxable income yields a $1,163 tax bill. This tool will show this as $1,160 in the 10% bracket and $3 in the 12% bracket.
